# Unlock Halo

> Free uses, your licence key, and moving it to another browser.

## Free uses

Halo is free for **50 uses**. A use is one save, copy, frame or transcript that worked.
These never count:

* opening the ring;
* the link actions: Open, Copy link, Page link, Link @ time, Lens, Clip and Studio;
* a save that fails.

The popup (click Halo in the toolbar) shows how many uses you have left, and the card on the
page warns you when 5 or fewer are left.

## Buy a licence

**\$29, once.** It unlocks every option for good, on up to 3 browsers, with every 1.x update.
There's no account and no subscription.

**1. Buy**

Click **Unlock** in Halo's popup, then **Buy a licence**. Or go to
[withhalo.app/buy](https://withhalo.app/buy). Polar, our payment provider, handles the
payment and tax.

**2. Get your key**

Polar shows your key and emails it to you. It starts with `HALO-`.

**3. Paste it**

In Halo's popup click **Unlock**, paste the key, and press **Unlock**.

## Lost your key?

* **Bought on withhalo.app:** it's in the email from Polar. You can also find it in
  [Polar's customer portal](https://withhalo.app/portal): sign in with the email you paid
  with.
* **Bought on AppSumo:** open your [AppSumo products](https://appsumo.com/account/products/)
  and press **Activate** again. See [AppSumo](/docs/guides/appsumo.md).

## Another computer or browser

One key works in up to **3 browsers** at a time. To use it somewhere new when all 3 are in
use, free one:

* **In Halo:** on the browser you're leaving, open the popup, click **Licence ›**, then
  **Deactivate on this browser**.
* **In Polar's portal:** if you no longer have that computer, remove the activation in
  [Polar's customer portal](https://withhalo.app/portal).

Reinstalling Halo in the same browser takes a new slot, so deactivate before you uninstall.

## Offline

Halo checks your key about once a week. Being offline, or our server being down, never
locks Halo. It only locks again if the key is refunded or deactivated.

## Refunds

Within 14 days of buying, for any reason: write to
[hello@withhalo.app](mailto:hello@withhalo.app). A refunded key stops working, and Halo goes
back to free uses.
